A television app you install yourself.

Install Ice Scream on an LG TV

LG televisions run webOS, which takes its own file and cannot install it from the television’s browser. You download the file on a computer and send it to the television over your home network.

How to install it

With LG’s Developer Mode

LG televisions running webOS. You need a computer on the same network as the television, and about fifteen minutes the first time.

  1. On the computer, create a free account on LG’s developer site, webostv.developer.lge.com.
  2. On the television, open the LG Content Store, search for Developer Mode and install it. It is free and published by LG.
  3. Open Developer Mode on the television, sign in with that account and turn on Dev Mode Status. The television restarts.
  4. Open Developer Mode again and turn on Key Server. Leave it on screen: it shows the television’s IP address and a passphrase you need next.
  5. On the computer, download the LG file from icescream.monster/lg.
  6. Install webOS Dev Manager on the computer. It is free, for Windows, macOS and Linux. Add the television using its IP address and passphrase, then install the file you downloaded.

Developer Mode runs on a timer

The Developer Mode app counts down a session, shown as Remain Session. Open it and select Extend before it reaches zero. If it runs out, the television removes Ice Scream and you have to install it again.
